All the long 101 way home:


The moon,  

Large cream-gold

Old-friend of calm.


Pulling onto the driveway,

Behind silhouette trees

A horned owl asserts herself



Four-note verses

Unhurried, soft  

Against freeway’s wild wash.


– Composed tonight, upon coming home.
